Presentation of the Service
The main disadvantages of courier or express shipping are higher costs per pound/kg and the possibility of service interruptions due to weather or other factors.
But the speed, reliability and safety features can make it worth paying the premium in the right circumstances.
Carefully choose your specific door-to-door express shipping needs and compare prices with airfreight (airport to airport) or ocean freight services.
When to use express transportation?
Here are some key scenarios where using express shipping services such as DHL or FedEx may be the best option:
- Express delivery: Express shipping is ideal when you need items to arrive quickly, often within 3 to 7 business days. This is important for things like urgent business documents, critical spare parts or perishable goods.
- High-value shipments: Express carriers such as DHL, Fedex, UPS, etc. typically offer enhanced security, tracking and insurance coverage, making them a good choice for shipping high-value items that need additional protection.
- Last-minute shipments: When you need to ship items on short notice, express shipping can get them to their destination faster than standard ground or ocean freight.
- Remote or difficult-to-access locations: Express services often have wider geographic coverage and can reach more remote areas than standard freight carriers.

How is the weight of an international courier shipment calculated?
The cost of the shipment is calculated according to the space it occupies on the aircraft. It is a standard IATA method. The formula to calculate the volumetric weight via international courier is: Length (cm) x Width (cm) x Height (cm)/5000
The volumetric weight and net weight are compared and the higher one is used to calculate the courier freight. For example: The carton size is 50CM*50CM*75CM, whose volumetric weight is 50CM*50CM*75CM/5000=37.5Kg, but the net weight is 30KG, then the shipping weight is charged for 37.5Kg.
